How to Measure Ring Size at Home More Accurately

Home ring sizing can provide a useful estimate, but accuracy improves when measurements are repeated and matched to the intended band width.

Best methods

  1. Use a rigid ring-sizing set or a well-fitting ring measured on a proper mandrel.
  2. Measure at several times of day under normal temperatures.
  3. Check that the sample passes the knuckle with gentle resistance.
  4. Use a sample similar in width to the ring being ordered.

Methods with more error

Paper strips, string, printable circles, and phone-screen tools can stretch, shift, or print at the wrong scale. They are best used as rough checks rather than final measurements.

Measure the correct finger

Finger sizes can differ between hands, including matching fingers. Measure the exact finger on which the ring will be worn.
