Details & buying guide

A solitaire is defined by one primary center stone, but the rings are not structurally identical. Band width, basket, prongs, setting height, pavé, shoulders, and gallery design affect how each ring looks, wears, and pairs with a wedding band.

Why Choose a Solitaire Ring?

Solitaire rings keep the center stone’s outline visible and generally have fewer small stones to maintain than halo or three-stone settings. They can remain simple while the stone shape, scale, and metal create the identity.

Read What Is a Solitaire Ring? and the Quiet Luxury Moissanite Ring Guide.

Choose a Solitaire by Stone Shape

  • Round for symmetrical brilliant sparkle
  • Oval for soft elongation and finger coverage
  • Emerald Cut for architectural step-cut flashes
  • Asscher for square step-cut geometry
  • Princess for crisp square brilliance
  • Cushion for softened corners and romantic structure
  • Pear for a directional teardrop silhouette
  • Marquise for strong north-south length
  • Radiant for brilliant sparkle within a structured outline

Plain, Pavé, or Decorative Band?

A plain band gives the center maximum visual priority and is generally the easiest to coordinate with another ring. Pavé adds a fine line of sparkle. Twisted, tapered, enamel, or botanical details create a stronger design identity while preserving one primary center.

Choose one leading feature. A refined solitaire usually looks strongest when the band supports the center rather than competing with it.

Setting Height, Basket, and Prongs

A higher setting can create wedding-band clearance but may snag more easily. A lower basket can feel compact and secure but may leave a gap beside a straight band. Pear and marquise points require deliberate protection. Princess, Asscher, emerald, cushion, and radiant corners need secure contact appropriate to the setting.

Metal Options

Selected designs may be available in 925 sterling silver, 925 sterling silver with 3 μm of 14K yellow-gold plating, solid 14K yellow, white, or rose gold, and Platinum 950.

For frequent long-term engagement-ring wear, solid 14K gold or Platinum 950 generally provides the strongest Jewel Eternal foundation. The plated sterling-silver option provides a warm gold surface over a solid silver base and benefits from gentler wear.

Wedding-Band Pairing

Solitaire rings are often easier to pair than halo or three-stone settings, but flush fit still depends on the basket, gallery, shoulders, and height. A straight band may sit close, leave a small intentional gap, or require a curved, chevron, crown, spacer, or custom-fit profile.
